Neighbourhood Media was founded in 2020 to bring high-quality, community-focused magazines to local readers. With over a decade in Sydney media, founder Georgina Pengelly saw the need for beautifully curated publications that celebrate neighborhoods, support local businesses, and share stories that matter.
By prioritizing meaningful content over excessive advertising, Neighbourhood Media creates a platform where communities stay connected and engaged. Proudly independent, the team is dedicated to keeping local journalism vibrant and accessible, ensuring that Sydney’s diverse neighborhoods have a voice and a place to share what makes them unique.
Our Magazines
High quality online and free pick up print magazines for 12 Sydney suburbs, organised by postcode, published quarterly.
Each issue showcases what’s new, inspirational, happening and worth talking about in that postcode, featuring people, places, businesses, products and events that connect with and celebrate the postcode.
We are adding 2-3 new suburbs every year. By 2025, we want to have Sydney covered, with plans to release our first magazines interstate.
Our Vision
Fashion magazines are beautiful, even sports magazine are nice to look at! So why do local magazines need to be so cluttered, why does it have to be so hard to find stories that are actually interesting? Our vision is to change all that, to make our postcode specific magazines something locals can be proud of and look forward to picking up.
Especially now that many of us are working more from home, which makes the local community a bigger part of our lives. We want to know about our neighbourhood - what's going on, what local services are available, what's new - and we want to support our local services and organisations.
We Think Local
Our magazines (print and online), named by Postcode, shine a light on local communities. Our hopes is that locals in each postcode think of each issue as "our magazine." We are where locals can tell their stories, share their views and find out what's happening around them.
We recruit local writers to cover local personalities, organizations and events. Their heart-warming stories are highlighting the magic that is happening in each and every suburb of Sydney.
We are also connected to community leaders and organizations throughout Sydney, connections that give our local magazines a unique local feel you just don't get in city-wide publications. Local advertising also contributes to the local feel.
This personal and local approach is not only good for neighbourhoods, it's good for business. Hyper local advertising is very effective.
